Saturday's Hill-infested Hijacking.

The time: Saturday April 29. The temperature: 39º. The location: McConnell's place. The line-up: Javens, Landino, George, McConnell, Harmer and a half a bag of mini chocolate doughnuts.

After a flat and uneventful first hour, the crew stops at Mugsies of New Wilmington for some hot java -- which by the way doesn't open till 8am on Saturdays - even if there are a half dozen or so Freaks in spandex hovering outside the door. Coffee was good and we were on our way. Headed out 208 towards Volant and then took a left on to "the Hill" which I hear is infamous among local cyclers. After that, the hits just kept on coming. A special shout goes out to D. George for taking the hills on his TREK mountain bike in sneakers and a dromedary pack on. Needless to say, he is now looking for a road bike.

After making a few rights and lefts and ascending a couple (4-5) more climbs we finally figured out where the hell we were. Our ride leader H-bomb did a comemerable job of finding about every hill from Hermitage to New Wilmington and getting us all home.

Needless to say, we were no longer cold. Total time was about 3 hours-- milage 35 or so miles.

Quick note for this coming week --Want to sart Tue and Thur rides from McConnell's. Check the side bar for times and locations as well as directions.

So long Freaks
