"A Room With a View"

If you have been reading the blog you would have noticed that I have mentioned on several occassions about "riding the loop around the lake". Well PB and I have been talking a little in the comments of certain blogs about getting out there and running the loop. If not riding the whole thing a couple or just once, at least doing it so that anyone who would like to do it on their own, will now know where, what to ride.

Let this be the formal/informal (whichever you like) invitation to get a guided tour around the lake via mtn bike, or cyclocross if that suits your fancy, so that you may learn the trail and do it own your own or however you wish. I will be at the parking lot located off of trout island road, it is a little gravel parking lot that accesses the old railroad bed, now gravel, just off of trout island road- - -on or about 545-600p. Normal time, but daylight is now restricted to so pushing off will be crucial. I will also be doing the same ride on Thursday if you are unable to get into this one tonight. One time around the lake is most likely about all that will be allowed.

I want to make sure that everyone who has an interest knows that the trail has not been maintained for quite some time. I am not sure what the condition of the entire trail is but there is much that is rideable. If anyone upon completing a ride around the lake would like to get together and clean it up a little, i would be more than interested. This is also a great running, walking, dogwalking, etc..... trail. All we have done is linked some trails and asphalt and more trails to make a decent circuit/loop around our hometown brownwater source.

Anyway, paula there you have it. If anyone has any interest please do grab your gear and head out. If you dont know where trout island road is, you can located d'onofrio's and go towards sharpsville. there is a road to the right just before you get to the "new" (we did not need it) bridge. that is trout island road. travel down that road until it really straightens out, go up over the crest and before you get to the next bend in the road you will see the parking lot on the left. i dont think that anyone would be coming from the other direction. if so, then look for the little lot on your right!

See ya all soon.........

I'm missing all the fun. I used to live on Trout Island and the dam is my old stompin grounds. The doctor says no weight on my leg until at least November. I guess I'll have to wait till spring to try out the lake route.

i really have high asperations of getting the entire loop cleaned up such that everyone can have a visible and desireable trail to ride. once the summer green turns to orange 'n brown, things will be better. its just that on the opposite side of the lake that we would all referrence, the (commission-dont know if it is game or fish or what...) property has all been closed for a long time and their efforts of keeping people confined to certain areas are actually working. so the trail between mahaney launch and the 846 orv area are pretty grown in. a little time spent out there and it could be cleaned up "real nice". all in all there is plenty of time to get out on that trizail. we will see all you hopefuls out and about.

I'm willing to help with trail clean-up. I did it once before, but it grows back fast.
