Fellow Freaks!
Sorry for the blog neglect -- was talked in to coaching 1st Grade soccer and unfortunately, practices are on Tue and Thur. with games on the weekends. SO, i'm out of the weekly rides for a little. However, my wifey just got me a bunch of great cool/cold weather cycling gear so I'll be good to go this fall. Looking forward to the cooler months ahead.
Harmer, if you're out there, I've got a box of rags and a wheel that's pretty screwed up if you'd be willing to take a look at it. Had another one of those crazy 5-10 mph collisions! How come those seem to do more damage than the 15-20 mph-ers.
Anyhow, soccer season over end of October, and by then the coffee on those coffee rides will really taste good! I encourage all of you still riding to use the blog as a Ride Board to hook up with other riders. Make your own times, days, etc.
See you all soon!

hey its great to hear/see from ya. hope that all is well for you and the soccer team, as well as the familia. I would be more than willing/happy to help you out with your wheel/equipment dilemna. Just let me know how soon you need things checked out and we'll get-er-done. You are correct about the coffee, unfortunately you may need more than one cup coming up here really soon.
As for all my compadres who showed for the kick-off of the month of mud, sorry for my absence. Had all intentions of getting there but some social activities prevented attendance. I am looking forward to making it to grove city this coming weekend.
Also to reiterate what Capt. J-Mac said, please use this blog to try and get together with anyone who is riding. I still think that there are many people in the area that are riding here and there but dont have anyone to get out there with. Hopefully in the spring we can reignite the flame and desire for more to participate with different levels of intensity. Until then try and keep that level of fitness through the tough times of weather and light, and the unavoidable holiday "fats" that will be just around the corner.
Take Care all...talk to you again soon.

I was wondering what happened to the "Freakz". No posts about rides and no comments when I mentioned I was done riding for the season since I crashed my bike on 9/11 and broke my hip. I now have three bolts over four inches long holding my leg together. I am not allowed to put any weight on my right leg until November. I plan on being ready to hit it hot and heavy in the spring.
Hoping to pre-ride Grove City a bit this week if anyone's in.
We had a good kick-off. Gotch had a very respectable time for his single-speed debut especially considering he crashed twice and is adjusting to a longer handlebar that easily tangles with the trees (a lot of tight track at Bavington). I was very happy to be on my old, lighter bike and happy with my finish. The course was very muddy this year, not fast and flowy like it is sometimes.
LongJohn, if you're reading, I don't know if we've met, but I'm wishing you a speedy recovery and happy Spring Dreams of riding in the sun.

good to hear that I did not miss much. but at the same time I am sad that I am not going to be a full participant. it is also a little difficult to start a series like this on a new bike. maybe not a new bike but different position, and takes a bit to get used to. i know the year that i was in the top ten for the final i had only put my kona together two weeks prior and rode it only twice.
hopefully if all goes well I may be able to compete at grove this weekend.
LJ...wow...i actually dont really even remember reading about you breaking bones. but best of luck to you in recovering. if there is anything that I would think would help you heal over the winter...it would have to be swimming and/or very easy spinning on a trainer. I actually am planning on attempting to get back in the pool for the winter to get some excellent lung/cardio to stay in shape. trainers really stink and are completely boring.
another topic...if anyone is interested in finding some place where we could sit through winter times on trainers in a collective arena (not spin classes), I would be more than happy to assist in trying to get that going. lord only knows how miserable it is to try and sit there alone for one hour let alone two or more.
peace...harms
Hi LJ.
I am sorry to hear about your hip. I hope you are feeling better. Hang in there and start out slow with the swimming.
