"the latest in doping"

Check this out: It is already happening. What I am seeing is that they dont know for sure right yet, but are looking in to it? Am I correct?

Phonak confirms Landis rider in question
This report filed July 27, 2006
The Phonak Cycling Team confirmed Thursday that Tour de France winner Floyd Landis is the rider who submitted a positive "A" sample following the 17th stage of this year's Tour de France.

The UCI revealed Wednesday that the anti-doping laboratory at Châtenay-Malabry in Paris discovered an "adverse analytical finding" in a doping control taken during the 93rd Tour.
"The adverse analytical finding received on Wednesday morning relates to the first analysis and will have to be confirmed either by a counter-analysis required by the rider, or by the fact that the rider renounces to that counter analysis," the UCI statement said.

A positive "A" sample is only the first step in the process and does not constitute proof of any rider's use of performance-enhancing substances. The Phonak Cycling Team issued the following statement Thursday, confirming Landis as the rider in question:

The Phonak Cycling Team was notified yesterday by the UCI of an unusual level of Testosteron/Epitestosteron ratio in the test made on Floyd Landis after stage 17 of the Tour de France. The Team Management and the rider were both totally surprised of this physiological result. The rider will ask in the upcoming days for the counter analysis to prove either that this result is coming from a natural process or that this is resulting from a mistake in the confirmation. In application of the Pro Tour Ethical Code, the rider will not race anymore until this problem is totally clear. If the result of the B sample analysis confirms the result of the A sample the rider will be dismissed and will then pass the corresponding endocrinological examinations. Please understand that we cannot at this time give you more detailed comments.

if I am right in what I have read, why wouldn't they wait to post this until they are absolutely sure of the results? I am flabergasted.....

dissappointedly,

Thanks for sharing. This is the best news I've heard!

I look forward to watching the Tour each year, but if this report turned out to be true, it would taint everything. I really wish they'd waited "for sure" before releasing this story!

It seems the Spanish had a plan from the beginning. It will be nice to watch next year's tour with a clean slate!!!

agree...accross the board. however, what i am told is that this whole doping thing is bigger than we all think. i hear that even in the states this doping thing is huge. it really tarnishes the perspective of the sport that I have grown up with for so many years now. I love cycling and to hear that the guys that are creating and making the history of my fav. sport is just disheartening. think about all those times when someone rode faster than you on the hills. you train your ass off to try and do better next time. what if you could have just gone home and taken a shot, and come back and woop someones butt no effort required. now wouldn't that be nice. Hell no, we are cyclists we thrive on putting ourselves into painful situations. The hurt we know will make us stronger. The pain will make us better persons. The will to succeed makes us train harder, the desire to sweat it out and stand above the rest makes us train harder. We are cyclists, we are human, and yes there will always be someone out there somewhere who is going to shut us down, but for the hurt and the challenge of doing it better the next time, we will work that much harder. I dont doubt for one minute that Floyd knows this lifestyle much greater than all of us. I am sure that he has earned the spot that he is in and I too have faith. I only hope that this all gets figured out. To be quite honest I really hope that it does, cause my tour desire is just getting flushed.......

spiraling downward
